Principal's Update
HELP is needed next Saturday, October 18th, 10 AM to re-mulch the playground. We need volunteers with wheel-barrows, rakes and shovels to spread the new mulch. It shouldn’t take long if we have many helping hands.
The Stoneham Public Schools Elementary Handbook is online on the Stoneham Public Schools website www.stonehamschools.net Please take some time to review it with your child. If you do not have internet access please stop by the office for a hard copy.
Once again Robin Hood School will be taking part in the Safe Routes To School program. We would like to see as many students as possible walk to and from school each day. This year we are also participating in a town-wide “Walking Wednesdays” program. All Stoneham elementary schools are calling on families to walk every Wednesday as a way to increase children’s fitness through walking and to help reduce traffic and pollution around our schools.
Reminders: Lunch tickets are sold for the week on Mondays. If a child does need to buy a ticket on another day he/she should bring the money to lunch and put it in the ticket container in lieu of a ticket.
Beginning Tuesday, October 14th the cafeteria will be selling water and a variety of juices for 75 cents. Unfortunately, we cannot substitute juice or water for milk due to federal guidelines on school lunches. If a student purchases lunch it comes with a milk. I’m thinking that the juice and/or water will be for those children that bring their lunch to school and want to purchase a beverage. If a child does buy lunch and wants juice or water they must pay an additional 75 cents. Any student buying juice or water should try to bring exact change and will pay for it when they get to the cafeteria.
Nurse's Notes
See information attached regarding the FLU.
Continue to notify school nurse if your child is diagnosed with Strep throat.
Vision and Hearing Screenings have begun. If your child fails the screening you will be called and then notified by mail.

Library News
The Library Volunteers schedules have been distributed via the classroom; please check your child’s backpack. If you have not received your schedule by early next week please feel free to contact Maria Cullen at 508-284-5834.
A meeting is scheduled for all Library Volunteers on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 8:45 a.m. in the Robin Hood School Library.
As a reminder all Library Volunteers must submit a CORI form along with a copy of ID as soon as possible to Mrs. Corcoran.

Box Tops for Education
Please continue to send in your Box Tops! Box Tops are submitted at the end of October for 2008; please send in all your Box Tops in the next few weeks to get submitted this year. The next submission will be in February. Thank you!
Walk for the Club
Community Safe Routes to School in Stoneham encourages everyone to "Walk for the Club". The Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham presents the 6th Annual Walk for the Club on Saturday, October 25th. Registration begins at 8:00am at 15 Dale Court, Stoneham, MA, Walk begins at 9:00am. For more information call 781-438-6770.
DATE CHANGE
Please note the date change for the annual Robin Hood Halloween Event. The correct date is Friday, October 24, 6:30-8PM in the Robin Hood Gym. It was listed incorrectly on the calendar that was sent out at the beginning of the year.
